Job Description

Climate change is the defining challenge of our time, shaping the health of populations for generations to come. The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine is tackling this crisis through its Centre for Sustainable Medicine (CoSM), working to accelerate the transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient health systems.

Reporting to the Director of CoSM, the candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
1. Strategic input and stakeholder management: Work closely with the Centre’s Director and its Executive to play an integral role in executing key strategic objectives; foster strong relationships with CoSM team members, ensuring seamless integration of the various activities and operations of the Centre; foster strong relationships with other internal stakeholders in NUS and NUHS, to enhance collaboration and synergy;
2. Spearheading specialist initiatives: the successful candidate will work closely with the team to lead a number of specialist initiatives for the Centre, including growing collaborations with universities, foundations, and Governments across the region and internationally; new research and policy engagement projects; and specialist educational activities.
3. Operational and administrative leadership: oversee the day-to-day operations of the Centre, ensuring key operations functions and goals are met with the highest standards of efficiency and excellence. This will include managing a team to oversee the Centre’s financial, HR, and administrative requirements; as well as providing senior leadership and support across a range of implementation and policy initiatives for the team.
4. Team management: Directly manage, grow and lead a team of 3-4 executives and work collaboratively with a diverse team of 15-20 researchers, clinicians and implementers in the CoSM team, cultivating a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence.
5. Strategic project and events coordination and oversight: Lead the execution and management of a wide variety of strategic projects and events, ensuring alignment with the centre’s mission and objectives; and review current organizational processes and procedures to identify potential gaps and opportunities for improvement to build organizational capability. These will range from educational programmes and courses through to the Centre’s enterprise offerings to the broader healthcare industry.
6. Business development and financial oversight: Strategically manage the Centre’s financial processes including management of the budget, cash-flow, financial reporting, and external funding, including managing philanthropic engagements and external funding partnerships, ensuring optimal utilization for maximal impact; monitor regional and international trends in sustainable healthcare to pinpoint and harness growth prospects for the Centre.

Qualifications Preferably Masters degree or equivalent relevant experience in healthcare or sustainability
  • At least 12 years of experience, with at least 3 years in managing incubator/accelerator programmes or research/academic organizations
  • Strong track record of managing cross-functional teams and achieving strong results through them
  • Specialist expertise in sustainability or healthcare, with a track-record working in the field a significant advantage
  • Excellent organizational, project, time and people management skills
  • Familiarity of startup ecosystems, corporate/commercial experience in environmental sustainability or healthcare, entrepreneurial and innovative mindsets are advantageous
  • Able to work independently and a good team player

  • Meticulous, action-oriented, resourceful, adaptable
